Hojo so več dni obdelovali, da je bila gladka, kot bi bila posekana spomladi v soku. Deblo so pripravili za jambor, ki je bil dolg kar 64 m. Privlekli so ga na zasnežen travnik pri cerkvi, kjer so ga naložili na 4 posebej močne visoke preme. Na kolesa so spodaj pritrdili ukrivljene plohe kot nekakšne sani. Začela se je izredno težavna pot proti Trstu. Po ravnem so orjaški tovor peljali s šestimi do osmimi pari konj, v klance pa so morali pripregati vole. Najzahtevnejši je bil del poti od Rakitne do Bezuljaka. Tam je pomagalo okrog 30 močnih Rakičanov.

The fir tree was processed for several days until it was smooth, as if cut down in spring when in full sap. The tree was prepared to be used as a mast of 64 metres in length. They dragged it to a snowy meadow next to the church, where it was loaded onto 4 very strong and high axles. They attached curved flanks to the wheels,
which looked similar to a sleigh. The incredibly demanding route to Trieste started. Where the terrain was flat, they pulled with six to eight pairs of horses, while going uphill, they needed to yoke ox. The most demanding part of the route was from Rakitna to Bezuljak where 30 strong Rakitna men helped out.
